My ultimate passion is developing molecular-based therapeutic approaches for treating childhood brain cancers, particularly Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPGs) and other childhood high grade gliomas. To this end, I am honored to supervise a multidisciplinary team that includes members from Neurosurgery, Neurology, Oncology and Research departments. We started our journey by building one of the world’s largest biobanks of DIPG and other high grade childhood cancer tissue samples. With the goal of understanding the molecular biology of childhood brain cancers we use cutting-edge technologies to generate the genome, proteome, microRNA and mRNA profiles of these tumors. We use in-vivo and in-vitro cancer models and study the tumor cells in a controlled microenvironment suitable for preclinical testing. To accelerate discovery, I have joined and since formed a highly translational research team at University Children's Hospital Zurich Switzerland. Our teams at DC.
